Our Core Values
We cherish individual growth, build self-esteem, instill discipline, respect, motivate at-risk youth to stay in school and ensure that they make healthy life choices. We address the psychosocial needs of youth at-risk with a particular focus on the girl-child.
We believe that the educated girl is more likely to make healthy life choices especially about her sexual and reproductive health, and thus reduce teenage pregnancy. Based on the notion that society depends on females to produce future generations, it is all the more crucial that society pays more attention on the particular needs of the girl child.
The educated female is more likely to delay marriage, have fewer children, be economically independent and be in a better position to take care of her family. As a result, she is more likely to break maternal cycle of poverty and not likely to be a social burden. CofA promotes lifelong learning and leadership of youth and we create an atmosphere that celebrates youth of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds irrespective of their race, culture and political affiliations.
At the local level, CofA-USA aims to provide services to at-risk youth and support CofA-Ghana’s efforts to provide education to vulnerable rural girls with a goal to send them to tertiary institutions, end the girl-child marriage and break maternal cycle of poverty.
To support the educational needs of all vulnerable girls and boys at risk for school dropout and ensure that they go to tertiary institutions both local and abroad and fight girl-child marriage in Ghanaian villages.
To see a world in which all at risk youth in poverty gain access to quality education at all levels in their communities through poverty friendly policies for a sustainable development.
CofA-USA is seeking volunteers to help in the following areas: food drives, after school programs, speakers for special events, administrative support, fundraiser organizers, technical/IT support. Various volunteer opportunities are also available to assist students, parents, guardians and community leaders. We are particularly seeking various professionals to serve as Mentors.
